Website Design Prices | Web Development Cost
Tuesday, March 30, 2010 1:02Web site rates, web design prices and web development costs can vary tremendously and people seeking to have websites developed often do not know what to expect when they make an inquiry.
There has been a huge trend in corporate America to outsource IT and web development work overseas because of the drastically lower rates that people will work for in countries like India, South America and Eastern Europe. Large companies have built offices in these locations to enjoy the low cost of the local labor pool; this can help their bottom line.
There are Three common types of web design pricing used in the industry today.
• Hourly Rate
• Project Price
• Per Page Cost
Charging Hourly
A very common way for web designers to charge is by the hour. Depending on the experience, location, and many other factors, the hourly rate can be anywhere from $8.00 to $200.00 per hour. Why is there such a big range? The big company charging $200/hr has overhead and non-producing people to pay as well as the developers. The high school student with “borrowed” software only has to charge what he/she wants to make. Some where in between is what most people are looking for.
Per Project Pricing
Many web design firms will quote the price to complete your project. Make sure you have a thorough and complete requirements list before you begin the project. A good design firm will break out each section with a list of features, specification and assumptions for each section of your website. Make sure you get it in writing so you both have clear expectations.
Per Page Pricing
Some web designers/ Design firms charge a flat rate per page, this can be as low as $60 although most designers in the USA will charge $100 – $200 per page.
