A subdomain is described as domain in the Domain Name System which is underneath another domain name in the hierarchy, for example:
- domainname: altmint.com
- subdomain: blog.altmint.com
How to create a Sub domain
A subdomain is a second website, with its own unique content, but there is no new domain name. Instead, you use an existing domain name and change the www to another name.
To create a subdomain:
- Login to cPanel and click Subdomains.
- In the drop-down, choose the domain.
- In the box before the domain, type the subdomain name you want.
- Click inside the “Document Root” box and it will auto-fill.
- Hit the Create button.
Subdomains are Free!
Unlike domains, sub domains can be created “at will”. For any domain, you can create as many subdomains as you like; you do not have to go to a registrar and pay an annual fee for each of them.
